My Favourite Chocolate Chip Banana Pancakes
I am sharing with you my favourite vegan pancake recipe: chocolate chip banana pancakes.
The combo of banana and chocolate chips in these fluffy vegan pancakes is the best! I love making these chocolate chip banana pancakes on Sunday mornings! I thought it was about time I shared these vegan banana pancakes with you.
Tips for making my chocolate chip banana pancakes:
In this fluffy vegan pancake recipe I used wholemeal flour but you could also substitute with spelt flour or oat flour. To make them gluten-free I recommend using quinoa or buckwheat flour.

The pancakes are refined-sugar-free but I use maple syrup to serve along with extra chocolate chips! An extra banana sliced is also a great topping for these delicious pancakes. You can also make these as crepes.
When mixing the ingredients I always start with mashing the bananas and try to remove any lumps. Then I add the flour and combine gently. I pour in the milk and combine.
I finish by adding the baking powder and combine. The pancake batter then becomes a little fluffy and I gently fold in the chocolate chips. Don’t over mix when the baking powder makes the pancake batter more airy otherwise your pancakes won’t be as fluffy as mine.
When making them I use a flat pan and avocado oil spray on medium to low heat. I flip them after about 1 minute on one side and cook for 1-2 minutes on the other side.
Vegan Chocolate Chip Banana Pancakes
Ingredients
- 2 ripe mashed bananas
- 1 cup wholemeal flour (whole-wheat flour)
- 3/4 cup oat milk
- 2 tsp baking powder
- 1 tbsp flax seed meal
- 3 tbsp dairy-free chocolate chips
- maple syrup to serve
Instructions
- In a bowl, mash the bananas with a fork.
- Add in the flour, flax seed meal and oat milk and combine together.
- Next, add in the baking powder, gently folding it in and leaving the batter to air.
- Fold the chocolate chips in gently in. Don't over mix.
- In a hot pan cook each pancake by adding 1 large spoon of batter in a pan with a bit of avocado oil or coconut oil spray and flipping them after 1 minute. Serve them warm with maple syrup.
