3 easy smoothie recipes for kids

One of my kid’s favorite breakfast or afternoon snack is a delicious smoothie. So today I am sharing our 3 favorite and easy smoothie recipes for kids! They all have a different one! Eloise prefers a pink strawberry smoothie, James only wants a blueberry smoothie and Annabelle prefers a green mango smoothie!

Smoothies are one of my favorite drink/food to give my children as a mother and nutritionist. I love first of all how many good things I can pack in the smoothies and also that they make a balanced filling snack for my children.

Smoothies are great to share with little ones quite early on. I remember sharing my smoothies with Annabelle when she was 8-9 months old teaching her how to drink from a straw.

However, I know some children are not big fans of smoothies and I have a few tips when converting children to enjoying smoothies for kids:

  1. make them nice and cold (add frozen fruit/ ice cubes)
  2. don’t make them too thick
  3. use fun straws
  4. skip on the vegetables like spinach and keep it simple
  5. use their favorite fruit
  6. Make it sweet enough
  7. use a fun novelty cup
  8. Make them together
  9. turn them into smoothie popsicles

Strawberry smoothie recipe for kids

My daughter loves everything pink so no surprise her favorite easy smoothie recipe for kids is a strawberry smoothie! Perfect to use up strawberries when in season!

  • 1/2 banana
  • 1 cup- or 1 punnet of strawberries
  • ice cubes
  • 1 cup soy milk
  • 1 tbsp walnuts
  • add extra water to make it less thick if required.

Blueberry Smoothie recipe for kids

My son has loved blueberries since he was very young and still will pick anything blueberry. His favorite smoothie recipe contains frozen blueberries of course!

  • 1/2 banana
  • 1/2 cup frozen blueberries
  • 1 cup soy milk
  • ice cubes
  • 1 tsp hemp seeds
  • add extra water to make it less thick if required.

Green Mango Smoothie recipe for kids:

I am pretty lucky my youngest daughter doesn’t mind a green smoothie. She saw me drinking a lot of them when she was little and I always shared them a little with her since very young.

If your little one is still quite young I recommend getting them onto the green smoothies early on as it can be hard to convince an older child to try a green smoothie!

  • 1/2 banana
  • 1/2 frozen mango
  • 1/2 cup of baby spinach
  • 1 cup soy milk
  • ice cubes
  • 1 tsp chia seeds or flax seeds
  • add extra water to make it less thick if required.
